French Sculptor in the Rococo style who went by the name Clodion. His works are held at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Bowes Museum, among others.
He went to Paris and studied in the workshop of Lambert Sigisbert Adam, his maternal uncle.
His best known works are a statue of Montesquieu, a Dying Cleopatra, and a chimneypiece in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
He married Catherine Flore in 1782.
Catherine the Great wanted him to come to Russia, but he declined.
