Defensive end who played for the AAFC's Chicago Rockets from 1946 to 1947, and the NFL's Chicago Cardinals and Detroit Lions from 1948 to 1954.
He starred at Notre Dame, where he was an All-American in both of his final two years.
He made the Pro Bowl in 1950 with the Cardinals, and won NFL championships in 1953 and 1954 with the Lions.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and died not far away, in Canfield, Ohio.
He served as an assistant coach at Youngstown State, where he worked alongside Jim Tressel.
