Administration manager for Anne Frank's father, Otto, who helped the family hide during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
She brought the Frank family food and other provisions while they were in hiding from July 1942 until August 4, 1944, when an unknown informant revealed their location.
Her heroism garnered much admiration and many accolades after World War II, but she largely shunned public acclaim.
She married Cornelius van Wijk in 1946, with whom she had four children: Ton, Cor, Joop, and Anne-Marie, named after Frank.
She saved Anne Frank's diaries and manuscripts from the Gestapo raid.
