American college basketball coach who led the UCLA Bruins from 2003 to 2013. In 2015, he became head coach of the Mississippi State basketball team.
Before earning his first coaching job at the University of California, Santa Barbara, he played professional basketball in Uruguay.
In his nine years coaching UCLA, he won more than 65 percent of his games.
He married Kim Howland, who used to be a cheerleader for Weber State, the same school he graduated from in 1979.
He coached Kevin Love from 2007 to 2008 at UCLA before making the jump to the NBA.
