Aleksandr Medved was a Soviet/Belarusian wrestler born on September 16, 1937 in Russia. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers of all time, having won three Olympic gold medals and nine world championships. He was also the first wrestler to be awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR.
