In 1966 Adamson and Sam Sherman founded Independent-International Pictures. Adamson also directed or produced the movies Psycho a Go-Go, Blood of Dracula's Castle, Five Bloody Graves, Smashing the Crime Syndicate, Horror of the Blood Monsters, Brain of Blood, Dracula vs. Frankenstein, Dynamite Brothers, Mean Mother, The Naughty Stewardesses, Black Heat, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Black Samurai, Cinderella 2000, Sunset Cove, Death Dimension, Nurse Sherri, Carnival Magic, and Lost.

In 1995 Adamson was reported missing and five weeks later his remains were discovered. Al Adamson officially passed away on June 21, 1995 at the age of 65. His murder has been documented in the TV series Forensic Detectives, The New Detectives, and A Stranger In My Home.
