Aucoin started his career with the Nepean Raiders of the CJHL and for Boston University. He was drafted #117 by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1992 National Hockey League draft. Aucoin played for the Canucks from 1994 to 2001. He played for the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2000 to 2001 and for the New York Islanders from 2001 to 2004. Aucoin played for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2005 to 2007, the Calgary Flames from 2007 to 2009, the Phoenix Coyotes from 2009 to 2012, and the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2012 to 2013. Aucoin also represented Canada in international competition and won a Gold Medal at the 1993 World Junior Championships and a Silver Medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics.
