He made his wrestling debut at age 17, and after fighting in Canada, began to make his way south.
He created the persona of Abdullah the Butcher fairly early on in his career, and became known for his brutal wrestling style. He regularly ignored the rules and literally beat up his opponents. He had an almost total lack of regard to his safety or the safety of his competitors. He became a special attraction in the wrestling world, traveling from region to region regularly and going through multiple managers. He now owns two restaurants, and still wrestles occasionally. He was inducted into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2011.
